 Spam Bots

It's that time of year again (do they ever need a time?) when the spam bots come to proboards to play. I've been doing a fair bit of adminning today and have removed as much of their rubbish as possible.
Members and visitors alike, beware of the links they post, they could be linking to malicious sites and suchlike, they are abseloutely nothing to do with this board!

Sadly the only way to prevent this completely, is by making the board private - Members only - but then those who are considering joining, can only view if they join. I would rather not do that.

If anyone spots some spam I have missed, please feel free to give me a shout, and I will remove it when I next log in :)

EDIT! 14/12/08 - As you may have noticed, we have undergone a severe spamming lately. I have recieved a couple of messages about how irritating this is and can only agree with you - I spent most of yesterday afternoon cleaning up the posts they made.

As a result the boards will no longer be available to non members for posting. A more extreme measure will be to block the board from even being viewable by non-member, but as previously mentioned, this can deter new members from joining.

Please let me and my co-mods know what you think about the new suggestions, also any ideas for unmentioned methods are very welcome!

Spambots are highly unsafe for work :P

Elmira ate luncheon meat for most meals, but it wasn't quite as salty or overpackaged as Spam.

Tell me about it, my co-mods are a little busy at the moment, so i've been buzzing around trying to get rid of most of it - and on that note, if anyone see's any I have missed, please IM me, i'll zap that too!

The new anti-spam measures seem to be working though...fingers crossed it stays that way!
